i definitely recommend you use powweb for this as your host. they have a 1-click ecommerce store script, you will be shocked how fast your site is up. Then you just need to learn to work the admin panel and you can start uploading your item details, pics etc - all for 7 bucks /month, not a bad deal and way easier than building from scratch

my advice also is to get a good marketable domain name, so your store is easy to remember. And if you need help pricing your products, use the shopping engines to get a good idea of pricing because that is very important

Do: Cater to a niche market that isn't inundated already. Example: Leatherworkers

Don't: peddle kitsch. You'll end up losing your *** in hosting fees with nothing to show for the time you've blown.

Do: consult a professional web designer (unless you happen to be one, then carry on)

Don't: waste cash on these reseller schemes that involve you creating a site to peddle someone else's wholesale junk, or one of these "e-commerce kit" sites where you select random crap from their catalog to stock your store.

Good luck
