My Web Domain Registrar Dissappeared, how can I have my domains transferred?

I have a problem, my web host, which is also my domain registrar dissappeared or went bankrupt, I have no clue, I've issued a order for my domains to be transferred to another registrar because that one is obviously unreliable. The problem is the order hasn't been accepted because the registrar's servers are down, meaning the emails cannot be sent.

So what are my options in these situation? I cannot set up one of my back up domains because the damm host put me in a mess.
My Web Domain Registrar Dissappeared, how can I have my domains transferred?
Try looking here

If that doesn't help, I would contact the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

My Web Domain Registrar Dissappeared, how can I have my domains transferred?
I've done a bit of research and according to a few people, there's not much you can do. If your domain registrar goes into bankruptcy, you can't transfer the domain name.

(one source:)

Are you sure that you haven't been scammed? There are reports of that happening every once in a while, and it's awfully fishy for a domain registrar/host to simply vanish.

What web hosts can I work with to have a website accessible from China?

I recently visited China for five weeks, and I discovered that, among thousands of other sites, my website and its network host, which houses my artistic creations, is blocked by the Chinese firewall. I would like to do some creative freelancing with the people I met in China, but if they can't get to my website, I'm in trouble, aren't I?

I want to either create a mirror of my site accessible from China, or move to a host that isn't blocked by the Chinese firewall. I'm even willing to get a .cn address for Chinese business, but I only speak English right now, so I wouldn't know how to register for such a site from the United States.

Please help!
What web hosts can I work with to have a website accessible from China?
Because of the nature of censorship in China dealing with web sites, it might be a good idea to get a .cn website. That's not a guarantee your site will not be blocked if the Chinese censors find anything they don't want others in China to see. But it's a very good start.

The .cn domains are more expensive then the common .com domain names as it's a country specific domain. But you can find some good deals. See the link in the resource as some registrars offer .cn domains for less then $13.00 for the first year. Enough time to try things out.

Your .cn domain name will work just like any other domain name and will be accessible to everyone plus the fact that many Chinese in China are often searching first for websites with .cn and that your .cn domain will be regional to those search engines in China.

I would recommend having some of your web content translated into Chinese. You can have graphics both in English and Chinese. You can also hire a translator and make a few web pages only in Chinese so that Chinese web browsers will identify it as such and display it naturally in Chinese. Give your readers options.

If you need a translator there are many out there that don't charge that much per web page.
What web hosts can I work with to have a website accessible from China?
i own a domain registration and web hosting business... hit me up... we can see how to work this out... ;)
Reply:HostGator.
Reply:Bluehost used to be pretty good.

But recently i can't access the homepage from China. Dont know if it is the problem of this company or other issues.

Free Web Hosts?

: What are some free wesite hosts? I know of ones like geocities, angelfire, bravenet and freewebs but are there anymore? I really dislike the way both of those sites work...and the links leave a lot to be desired *I don't like the how it's so long like geocities.com/username here* Are there any better ones? I also know there's some one's where you can make a site somewhere like freewebs or etc, and then they will host the already made site for a small url like username.tk (.tk is one) are there anymore of those? Thanks! Hope I made sense I feel like I didn't word everything correctly

If you are serious about creating websites, don't go for free webhosting as they are not reliable and you may end up losing all your work. They usually put ads on your websites and it could be annoying.

If you intend to create more than 1 website, go for multiple web hosting where you could handle your websites in one account.

Following webhosting site is quite good.

Hostmonster http://snipurl.com/1512d

They offer hosting of "unlimited domains" and you will get massive webspace of 200000 MB (200 GB ). They only charge $4.95/month and they also offer "a free Domain Name" and installing service called "Fantastico". By using Fantastico, you may create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer "Free Website Builder" as well.

Reply:I think every web host, once they get popular enough, is going to have SOME bad reviews.

I've got my own sites and several clients over at HostGator, and I've been pretty happy with not only the features and performance, but the responsiveness of their tech support team. And being a software engineer, I've fired away with some pretty technical questions at times.

I'd recommend getting your domain name registration and hosting from two separate places, just to give you leverage and a Plan B if you need to switch. I'd go with NetworkSolutions as the domain registrar. They're not the cheapest, but really, sometimes you get what you pay for, right?

Any free hosting advice please?
Hi there,

A free hosting provider, in most cases, is advertisement supported so please bear that in mind while using their services.

There are several that you could try:

1) Freehostia: http://freehostia.com/free_hosting.html

2) Google: Page Creator - http://pages.google.com/ and Blogspot - http://blogspot.com

3) Yahoo Geocities (too many advertisements): http://geocities.yahoo.com/

4) Cabspace: http://cabspace.com/

5) Awardspace: http://awardspace.com/free_web_hosting.h...

Have fun building your website.
Any free hosting advice please?
You can build a page by using Netscape composer or I.E.

Input your text and pictures and these programs will generate the HTML code for you.

The free hosting will be more of a problem.

See how much in the way of web-space your ISP supplies.

It might be enough, cause I don't think you'll need any where close to 100MB.
Reply:You wont get as FREE. Let me know if you wanna buy at the LOWEST cost. its beneficial as you wont get banner ads if you buy your own space!...

I will help you throughout in uploading your contents too and that help is FREE.

Let me know. This is my site: www.designwebgraphic.com
Reply:The free host website that offer a control panel would be Awardspace.com. I host my Wordpress and Forum with them. Read a review I wrote on Awardspace at http://www.wanginternet.com/free-web-hos...

Web site creation requirements?

i want to create a web site that contains login accounts that the user has to buy (some $ per month type), based on the account type the user gets to access the site content.

* would php help me in creating such scripts or do we have readymade facility in packages like frontpage or Dreamweaver?

*I would also like to place some adds

*What procedure should i follow to upload this website on the net eg: getting domain name, web space(preferably free), web host, etc .

Please give me reliable names.
Web site creation requirements?
Hello,

First question is yes, PHP will help you create scripts. If you want to store user information and have a database you will have to use a database programming language as well. I recommend Mysql. PHP and Mysql seems to work seamlessly with each other.

Second question depends on what type of ads? Check out this site for a description and a list of agencies you can use.

http://teamtutorials.com/web-development...

Third question, You will need a FTP program if your web hosting service doesn't provide one. This will allow you to upload files to your site.

If you want to use a http://www.yoursitename.com then you will need to buy a domain name. Most hosting services will give you a free one if you sign up with them.

Free web space with the PHP, Mysql, and High Bandwidth transfer limits are impossible to find. You will most likely have to buy one. Check out http://findmyhosting.com . My hosting( http://hostmonster.com ) provides me with 3000GB transfer a month.

DreamWeaver will help you make a site but shouldn't be relied on 100% of the time. There are times you will need to add code manually to get the right effects. With that being said I recommend you learn CSS, HTML, PHP, and SQL(preferable Mysql )

Try the information on this site:

Also, I strongly suggest you have as much information as possible backed up. You can get like 15 DVDs for less than $20 at stores like K-mart. Each DVD can store 4.7G, so you should be able to back up everything, and then upload it to a new host, should the need arise.

They might be what you're looking for.
Reply:Okay, I'll walk you through it step-by-step. You could host your site on Yahoo GeoCities, since you already have an account here, but it's your choice.

1) Open the BlueVoda file. Just open the BlueVoda Website Builder and select "open existing file" and select the page.

2) Now select "view" from the menu and select "Page HTML..."

3) A box will pop up. Under "generated HTML", select all the text in the inlaid box.

NOTE* The text will start with: %26lt;!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"%26gt;

And end with: %26lt;/html%26gt; Be sure to select it all.

4) Now select copy and minimize (or close) BlueVoda.

5) Log into freewebs and click on the huge orange button that says: "edit my site". You will be redirected to a page called Site Manager.

6) Scroll down to File Manager and you will see a file labeled "index.html". This is your homepage. Click on the box next to it, (a check mark should appear) and click the edit button (a pencil on a piece of paper) to the right of it.

7) you will be redirected to an htlm editor. Select all the text and delete it. (It's not useful anyway.)

8) Once It's completely clear, right-click and select paste. Now click on the save button (a floppy disk) and confirm that you wish to save.

9) You should be done now. If you have more pages you want to add to your site, and follow steps one through five again. Then click on "Add a Page" in the File Manager. Name it and follow steps six through nine, replacing "index.html" with your new page's name.

I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, just ask me. I'm always happy to help.

About hosting?

I had uploaded my site to a web host, after i got it uploaded their and when i view my pages the images would not show up,
About hosting?
This is a common problem for first time or beginning web developers.

Generally one of two things happened. The first possibility is that you didn't upload the images (they are still on your computer). The second is that the paths specified for the images were local paths (e.g. "%26lt;img src='file:c:\...\...\somepic.jpg'%26gt;") instead of relative paths from the html document to the image (e.g. "%26lt;img src='somepic.jpg'%26gt;")

I hope that helps. It can be confusing at first.

Web Page Design: How to go about becoming a freelancer?

I'm new in the field, havent really got much experience, but taken a few classes. Not too concerned about the actual web page designing part.

My plan is design web pages for people (or small buisness) help them get them on the web, using mostly HTML based websites (using website designing programs). Not really anything too extravagant. As the plan is to have something like 1-5 pages for a website. perhaps bigger in time.

However, I have no experience with copyrights, and other such related stuff.

Could anyone walk me through how to set up a buisness? (US)

The things that come to mind are copyrights, legal (is there anything I should know before i go into buisness, legal wise), and any other buisness related information.

Also could use suggestions for good web hosts for buisnesses.

Music hosting?

I know this has been asked before but im asking it again . what is the best web host for music for blast in your 360 and and is it free? I found one but having problems getting into blast can any one be of any help?
Music hosting?
You need an mp3 file uploaded to the internet. You can upload one from your computer to your free geocities account for an example of where you can upload it. (You got a free geocities account when you signed up for yahoo.)

Once you have your mp3 on the internet, you need the URL for it that needs to end with ".mp3". Take that URL and enter it into your blast in the box marked "URL". Enter some text into your blast, click save, and voila! You should now have a small play button in your blast that visitors can click in order to hear your song.
Music hosting?
You need mp3 and a URL

Two web address, two servers, one ip address?

Hello,

I have two different servers. One is SBS 2003 and the other is server 2003. They are both using IIS6 to broadcast the websites. Then I am using No-ip for the dynamic IP for the URL's. The problem is server a host鈥檚 one URL and server b hosts another. Is there a way with IIS6 to have it manage the correct URL's to the correct servers? Or some other way? Web host companies do this and I am just wondering how it's being done.

Thanks!
Two web address, two servers, one ip address?
ONE server should be hosting BOTH web sites - this is done through host header entries in the IIS administration. Pick a server and then review the documentation here:

Ok, i have read many answers and i hope some might help out.

Am a web-based designer for an enterprise and i started to do some freelance jobs, mainly for small companies OR individuals, i had to, for a certain website, to ask for the help of a programmer to develop a form based page with database integration, having said that, my interest is to learn some web-programming and scripting to aid in such small freelance projects, instead of getting the aid of a programmer.

So, we used .JSP with MySQL database, and that was a pain, since not so many web hosts include support for .JSP, and when they do, its costy (and doesnt work, had to move between 4 hosts :|).

My Question is: should i learn PHP OR JSP, for some basic to intermediate web development, nothing fancy, just to get me going. i would appreciate any input. Many thanks for anyone who answerers...
Php vs jsp for a web designer?
Go with PHP. It's a much better choice for a freelance programmer, and you will learn it easier. JSP is great if you want to learn application server programming in J2EE and already know some Java/C++, but since these are usually full-time programming roles, not contracting roles, you would be better off with PHP. This has a large part to do with the fact that J2EE app servers are usually run by the business, whereas a PHP website is a lot more flexible in terms of web hosting.

Both languages have decent IDEs (Dev-PHP, NetBeans %26amp; Eclipse) and support in most programmer's text editors (EditPlus, PSPad), so that factor is really a moot point, however I will say setting up a J2EE server (eg Tomcat) is a damnsite harder than setting up an Apache server with PHP (which is the major influence on web host support for JSP vs PHP).
Php vs jsp for a web designer?
I have always like doing PHP more than jsp, not only do I think its a bit less hassle, its also faster.
Reply:In my opinion if you want to do freelancing you should definately switch to PHP. Its fast, has an enormous amount of application and scripts available on the internet, hosting is cheap and there is more freelance work in PHP than any other language.

Also Dreamweaver is just fine for PHP development. Infact I have been using Dreamweaver for the past 3 years. Its excellent. But I might also recommend Eclipse, don't worry its free.
Reply:JSP is nice for somethings BUT, the problem really is support, if you want to find a good host or become a host, then JSP offers you all the power of java, but if you don't know java, I don't see how that's helpful. Apache has a tomcat server that supports JSPs out of the "box" http://tomcat.apache.com

People like PHP, that's not really a technical argument, but you can easily get hosting for it, it's probably about the same level of powerful, and when you finish a job or die, there will be someone that can update it. Whether that's an advantage or not...really is in what you want to do in the end. That is to say there are more PHP programmers than JSP programmers.

JSP does have a free IDE that I'm aware of called "NetBeans" with color coding and syntax checking and it automatically finds the Java stuff it needs during install.

PHP I'm sure also has IDEs, but I'm not aware of any off the top of my head.

Any good free web hostings?

ok I am looking for some good free web hosts so I can make a web site for people to come and talk about anything, my current web site is:

http://deltacommunity.bravehost.com/home...

but I am looking for something better, I am hoping for one with PHP acesses so I can make my own forum. the reson I am asking is because if I can get just what I am looking for then it would be easier then using invisionfree, bravehost, etc. plus it would be so much easier having everything on one host, I don't mind paying as long as it isn't more than like $20 a month. if you need any more details email me or just ask.

NOTE:if I have to pay I still have to ask my parents if its ok lol I should have done that before I asked but I am sure they will say yes as long as I pay'em.
Any good free web hostings?
I just found a REALLY good one yesterday... would you believe PHP, MySQL, cPanel, phpMyAdmin, all the goodies that a REAL hosting service has... and 100% free, as in no MONEY and no ADS.

I started putting together a review page for them... I'm in the process of installing a full-blown database-driven content management system and haven't hit too many snags thus far. Check it out...

www.freewebs.com

is nice, you can get templates and it's easily customizable.
Reply:The best free web hosting that comes with PHP and MySQL support that I've found is Tripod--but only the UK version (http://www.tripod.co.uk); unfortunately, their ads can be a nuisance.

Bluehost.com is a really good web host, and they only cost around $6-8 a month. The only catch is that you have to pay all at once, for either 3 months, a year, and so forth.

Good luck.
Reply:You can go to http://us.890m.com

There is a lot of resource like free templates, tools, web hosting, etc for the registered user. The registeration is free.

Their free web hosting includes databases, subdomains, ftp, email accounts, cPanel Access, etc...

You can upload your site via cPanel Access using internet explorer or ftp using filezilla

I have used it for few months and I never see the problems like server down, slow down, etc....

Hosting my own website with a server....HOW???

I want to start a website that can cater for high bandwidth.

I have been told that I will need a server as most web hosts wont allow high bandwidth. My website will hopefully be as big as youtube. So the server must be capable of high bandwidth so users can upload movies and pics.

What server should i buy to start off with?

Will i need to buy my own IP address? as somone said that internet providers wont allow high bandwidth.

Can someone point me in the right direction, im a total novice when it comes to servers etc.

I know my website will be a huge hit! I need to know where i can get some advice on servers etc..

Hope you can help....
Hosting my own website with a server....HOW???
It is better to go for dedicated servers, where you will have only your site in the server compared to shared hosting, where many sites run in same server. Dedicated server packages always come with own IP addresses. One of the top dedicated hosting providers is http://www.theplanet.com/ . But you need more technical knowledge to run a site in dedicated server than in shared server. because you may need to decide on the Operating system to run in server, software to be installed etc. Managed dedicated hosting will reduce your job, since they will install it for you but it can be costlier
Hosting my own website with a server....HOW???
Yes you would need a server. You can buy pretty good servers from DELL, just for High Bandwidth and A lot of people visiting your site You well need a couple of servers to be able to handle the load (this is a couple thousand right there).

Now you need a High Speed Connection to be able to take all the users coming to your site. T1 line or something like that would have to be. (Meaning you want your connection to be faster then a lot of high speed connections).

Who knows how much that well cost.

You probably just want to hire somebody to set this all up for you. At least talk to some company about setting up a website. If you don't know anything about servers I don't know how you are going to figure this out with just asking questions on yahoo.
Reply:Your best choice is managed or virtual servers.

$100/month gives you 2000GB of bandwidth and 320Gb hard drive. Take a look:

http://order.1and1.com/xml/order/ServerM...

Until you actually need the power and flexibility of a server,

start with webhosting: $10/month = 250GB web space and 2500GB bandwidth.

Use 1%26amp;1. The business package is on sale for $5.80/month instead of $10. You can change or upgrade (even to a server), whenever you want.

Here are some free internet hosting sites
Free hosting?
The best free host on the web is

www.TechieHost.org

They offer famous C-panel hosting with all advance features. And most important thing....they won't put any ads,pop ups, banner on ur site.

Reply:If you are serious about creating websites, don't go for free webhosting as they are not reliable and you may end up losing all your work. They usually put ads on your websites and it could be annoying.

If you intend to create more than 1 website, go for multiple web hosting where you could handle your websites in one account.

Visit Following webhosting which is quite good.

Hostmonster http://snipurl.com/1512d

They offer hosting of "unlimited domains" and you will get massive webspace of 200000 MB (200 GB ). They only charge $4.95/month and they offer "a free Domain Name" and installing service called "Fantastico". By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer "Free Website Builder" as well.

Visit the site to check details.

Following site is quite good to register domains as price is reasonable with free privacy. Some charge about $5/ year just for free privacy.

Reply:Yes I know of a perfect one that most people online endorse.

==%26gt; http://www.110mb.com

2GB Space, No Ads At All, PHP, CGI, PERL, Python, Java... and they add more features per your requests. No other hosts does this.

Bandwidth: 100,000 MB. 100 GB.

For PROOF of their major endorsements over other free hosts, see their forums and read dozens of claims saying that 110mb has more features then most paid hosting services.

Also has daily backups, SSI, ImageMagick, Zend, IonCube, and tons more.

Recently this host has gone clustered as they had lots of downtime. Clustered mode is what paid hosts can only afford, and it's now fully implemented on 110mb, hence TRUE 99.8% uptime.

Enjoy.

How can i upload a file from a web server to my own web server?

i want to know how can i upload a file that is stored in a web server ( example : http://dl.ibox.org.ua/8/70322/Bengu___Ta... ) to my own web server?

is there any codes or such things that i can put in my web host that can do this thing for me ?

like i put the url of the file that i want to upload to my web host and click the button then it trasfers the file to my web host?
How can i upload a file from a web server to my own web server?
Depending on how your web host is configured, you could theoretically do that.

For example, you could run the Unix command wget behind the scenes to obtain the content of any URL and store it in a file.

You could write something using the Perl HTTP package to do the same thing.

Lots of possible solutions, but without knowing what scripting languages you have available on your hosting setup, it's hard to be more specific.

(PS - Javascript is a client-side language, so it won't actually run anything on the server. PHP is what you'd use to download the URL.)
How can i upload a file from a web server to my own web server?
Usually web servers will ask you to upload a file from your client machine (the one you are on now). So, download the file to your machine, then upload to your web server.

How to find the host's web page?

I've recently became in charge of one web site. Because of payment, that web site was closed. I want to contact to the host and pay for the hosting. The problem is that I don't know their web page. Is there any way to find it out knowing my web page's IP address?
How to find the host's web page?
called a WHOIS

How to find the host's web page?
Do have name of particular website/domain name you can check out this site..

http://www.register.com/retail/index.rcm...
Reply:Yes, there are 2 ways to find the host website:

1. Visit a WHOIS website and type domain name in and it will find the information of the domain, including DNS of Web Host.

2. Go to Start, Run, type CMD and press enter.

Type "ping yourdomain.com" and the IP of the host will show up several times from server responces.

May I recommend 50Webs - increasingly getting bigger and better with Free Web hosting aswell as Paid Hosting.
Reply:If you know the domain name, you can check out Internet Archive. It will bring up the site they way it was.

Or run a domain search on Whois. That may give you some of the information on the old host.

Some web design help?
You could try installing Word Press. It's very easy to use and there are a lot of templates available to choose from. If your host uses Fantastico, you should be able to select Word Press from a list. Most hosts work with Word Press and Fastastico makes it so easy to install it. If you don't have that, Word Press has all sorts of instruction files on their site. They will even help you or do the installation for you. Good luck.

Some web design help?
okay, so now you want to turn on the Comments or feedback feature in b2evolution. so, wherever your admin panel is in your blog, go there and find where you can turn comments on. Or, for example, in Wordpress, you turn comments on/off in each post you write.
Reply:If you are going to use a blog why not do a search for "Wordpress Themes" or "B2Evolution Themes" on Google - in this way you can make a nice user interface.

Do you have a web page created in FrontPage and freely published.. ??

I have spent so much time on trying to find a free web host that would support FrontPage without any tricks, but all of those 'free' web hosts demanded to fill in the billing information part in the end as a nice surprise. :(

So If you managed to create a thing of yours in FrontPage afterwards successfully publishing it.. WHERE ??? That is my question. And HOW ??

Please tell me which buttons I have to press, because I am becoming hopeless. Everywhere it says one way and the reality is somehow different. :'((

What do I have to type when I click the 'Publish web ste' in FrontPage.. I choose FTP.. right..?? So what do I type there ??

Where do I click in that real site to unite free web host with FrontPage creation ???
Do you have a web page created in FrontPage and freely published.. ??
There are no FREE hosting providers out there that allows you to upload (as in publish) your pages using FrontPage, DreamWeaver whatever....

You need to have a hosting provider that supports piece of technology called "FONTPAGE EXTENTION" about 80% of the providers do support them.

Any way if do want to use it on your FREE hosting providers then, I'll try to give you step by step direction how to by pass frontpage please read carefully:

Assuming all your pages are created and saved on your hard disc. You can use two methods. 1. FTP transfer 2. Use your hosting provider's online flie Creator or transfer.

First FTP, This probaly the best and simplest way of uploading your Pages to your hosting server. However not many FREE hosting provider supports this. Ther some free FTP program available to download like WSFTP, CuteFTP etc. With FTP you just select the Files to upload and it upload everything for you.

Secondly, Most FREE Hosting providers will allow you to use their own Web Builder facilities. If they do all you do is open each page in your FrontPage and Switch to CODE VIEW then EDIT %26gt;%26gt; SELECT ALL%26gt;%26gt; COPY after that go your HOSTING PROVIDERS PAGE BUILDERS Area just "PASTE" the code in the body section.

Wallaaa NOW you have the page online.

If you need your website hosted then e-mail me through my website with small monthly contribution you can host it on my server and I'll help you get it publish.
Do you have a web page created in FrontPage and freely published.. ??
have you tried geocities?
Reply:geocities is what i use, and i love it.

i want to have this ability in my own web server host:

"Save file from the web

You have an opportunity to upload files to your account from the Web using URL address."
How can have this in my oun host? ( Save file from the web )?
You can have such a faclitiy only if the program that you are trying to use is a web based program ... one that is made to work when accessed from another computer... specifically so if you thinking of having such a facility on your web site hosted on a shared server.. because it is just the web site that you have accces to and not the whole computer in that case..

Who's got the BEST professional web design tools to offer thats the most user friendly, w/great hosting.?
it depends on what u want to be on the page.

since most code is made in flash, php, asp, since not many people use html anymore.

i use http://www.bluehosting.com for my hosting
Who's got the BEST professional web design tools to offer thats the most user friendly, w/great hosting.?
To the guy who said no one uses HTML anymore that is a total lie. HTML is the basis of any website. Server side languages such as PHP or ASP at their lowest function exist to create dynamic pages made up of HTML.

As far as your question. Hosts don't generally act like Geocities anymore in providing tools to help you actually create the website. That was a thing of the 90's. You can however find software based tools to help with webdesign such as the following.

NVU - http://www.nvu.com/index.php

FrontPage - http://www.microsoft.com/Frontpage/

Dreamweaver - http://www.adobe.com/products/dreamweave...
Reply:It may depend upon what kind of web site you plan to design. Is it a purely informational web site or will it be for e-commerce.

Flash and other tools like it are OK for informational sites but a no-no for e-commerce sites as far as SEO goes.

If it is an e-commerce site you may want to check out Yahoo. Simple tools, easy to use and expandable with HTML, etc.

I bought a web site from godaddy and cant get rid of top advertisement, i purchased hosting with them.....?

You are in luck. I had to do this last night. And after some tries I got it. When you buy a domain from them they give you a free hosting credit. Do not use it. That is what I did and got what you are getting now.

When you go to your hosting list, you will see the list of hosting accounts you have set up. Yours probably says something like "Economy hosting (free blah blah )"

If you bought economy hosting, it should not have the "free" part.

I canceled my free hosting account. Then assigned the domain name to my real paid account. Beware, if you have stuff in the free hosting account, it will be deleted when you cancel. Download it locally first.

You have to wait a long time after you cancel for it to get processed. Go to sleep and continue next morning. This frees the domain to be assigned to the paid hosting account. Check the emails they sent you for instructions. If you get stuck, call them. They are extremely helpful.
I bought a web site from godaddy and cant get rid of top advertisement, i purchased hosting with them.....?
You get your own hosting and transfer the domain over to the new hosting company. You can do it within godaddy 'manage domains' function to change the dns over to the new hosting company.

If you dont have a hosting company yet.. check out - http://www.the-best-webhosts.com for ideas.

What is the bandwidth limit for AT&T/SBC Elite DSL customer, if I were to host web site with Apache server?

ATT/SBC - Residential - Elite DSL package.

I've got apache set up on my computer and I want to host my own php/mysql web site.

How much usage before they slap on additional charges, bump me to a commericial account, or suspend my account?
What is the bandwidth limit for AT%26amp;T/SBC Elite DSL customer, if I were to host web site with Apache server?
with the 6.0Mbps down, you've probably got around 768kbps upload ... so, ideally, about 80kb/s file transfer. it's probably uncapped (no bandwidth limit), so you shouldn't have to worry about any extra charges, but it'll be aweful slow loading/downloading if you get more than 2 or 3 people connected, plus you won't be able to do much of anything online if someone's connected.

*Note: most home broadband companies use dynamic IP addresses ... they change your IP address every couple weeks, month, 2 months, whatever. so if you're using a redirect, you'll have to keep it updated.
What is the bandwidth limit for AT%26amp;T/SBC Elite DSL customer, if I were to host web site with Apache server?
The first problem you will encounter is that AT%26amp;T and other residential ISP's block port 80 incoming so you webserver will have to use another port outside of the 0-1024 range.

Wats the differece between buying a domain name and purchasing a web host?

i dnt understand wat im buying....which will will let me edit the web page to ?
Wats the differece between buying a domain name and purchasing a web host?
Buying a domain name, just gives you exclusive ownership of that name. Like www.RobertG.com. It doesn'd do too much good to own the domain name if you don't have a website place for it. That's what a web host does. I use GoDaddy (for seven years). First you can see if a domain name is already take, then you can buy it through GoDaddy. Then you can purchase hosting service through GoDaddy. So that you have a server for your web site.
Wats the differece between buying a domain name and purchasing a web host?
A domain name is just a name that people can type into a browser.

For example, yahoo.com is a domain name. No one but Yahoo gets to use this without their permission, as they have registered the domain.

A web host gives you access to a web server (or servers) that can host your website. This is what sends files to people when they go to your website.

In order for people to be able to type in a name into an Internet browser and see your website, you will need all of the above.

Reply:The Domain name is the actual URL that you would type in to reach your site...www.yahoo.com is a domain.

The Web host is somone that will 'host' your website, in other words a company that allows you to purchase disc space on their server to place your website on.
Reply:You need domain name like www.yourname.com firstly. Then you will need webhosting to publish webpages of your domain.

If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website, I got more than 100 websites in about 6 months' time), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account.

I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent.

There are quite a few "Free" webhosts out there, most provide you with a subdomain of their site e.g. http://yoursite.yahoo.com and then offer you to redirect your site to theirs. Others will let you host for free but will have adverts displayed, normally at the top of the screen or as pop-ups/unders. These guys are the best one I know of at http://www.freevirtualservers.com/free-h... you just need to update your nameservers at the site you registered the domain to point to theirs.

Does anyone know if I could download a free website creator off the internet? I don't want it to be web based.
there are lots of them out there.

All of them require a little bit of a learning curve.

All of them have there strong and weak points.

I design websites for a living http://www.wiz-bang.com.

The best thing you can do is learn HTML and CSS and get some graphics processing program like photo shop or Paint Shop Pro so you can work with graphics. I also work with XML, PHP, MySQL and Communicating between Microsoft Access Databases to Web Site Databases.

Use the internet to get some free tutorials and reference material about designing sites

The ultimate reference is

another good one is

If you are using ms windows then use frontpage.

Create your site and then upload it to your site host.

www.free-webhosts.com, choose one. sign up, then get your ftp data, and , using an ftp program upload your content.
I am working on a webpage ,but i don't know how to send it into the web?
You'll need to pay a monthly fee for a webhost that supports frontpage extentions (You could get a free one if you do some searching but I don't know any I could refer you to). If you use Ipowerweb linked bellow they will walk you through setting up your FTP (File Transfer Protocol). Basicly you type in some information a username and password a little folder will come up and you move your website from the left side of the screen to the right. But like I said any good host will have walkthroughs on their website along with live support.
Reply:to upload it on web.

You must find a domain to support your site

such as geocities, or other domain sites

but they are not all free. Try to find an efficient and free domain

but if you have budget you can buy your own domain unlike geocities. you are subdomain (e.g: www.geocities.com/yourweb.)
Reply:hello. you will need a service provider, you can find a free one. after that, you will transfer using FTP transfer. try searching this information on internet. (try Google) :P

I don't think so. Yahoo currently offers only credit card as payment as of this point. This is actually the norm of most web site hosting services so don't be surprised.
