Reply:Web hosting is hosting the webpages of people/organisations on you Web Server. To put you Web Server on the internet you need to have a Fixed IP Address. In different countries there are different ways to get it. e.g. in India you need to get a leased line connection. Once you get a Fixed IP Address you need to create a DNS server and configure it such that all the website you want to host point to you IP Address. This information must be set at interNIC or the website where you register the website address. There are many webservers softwares avaliable for hosting websites like apache on linux and IIS on Windows. Also you can extend this concept of providing just web pages to providing web applications which are developed in .Net, J2EE, PHP, etc. With that you can make more money $$. You will be called a ASP then ie.. Application Service Provider.


Again there are two parts of it:


ASP Administration and Maintainance: Where you just provide the server, database, hosting, etc and the applications are developed by your customers


ASP Development: Where you develop the appplications and you host them for your customers.
